I've known and loved Spain for over 40 years. As a foreign exchange student in my junior year of college, I studied at the University of Madrid for one year. My curriculum of Spanish history, art history, political science and literature have given me a unique perspective of Spanish culture.

I have experienced Spain as a student, working adult and wife to a Spaniard and travel professional. I'm equally comfortable revealing insights into Toledo or Segovia as I am digging for white asparagus or teaching the art of cooking Tortilla Espanola. Spain was the first country I ever visited. I was only 15 years old and it left a huge impression. I had no idea it would be the beginning of a lifetime of wanderlust. Now, many years and many countries later, I am a Spain specialist. I have been to that gorgeous country so often that I have lost track of how many times I have gone! At one time, I even organized and led my own small group tours there, focusing on contemporary art and wine. There is so much to do in Spain. You can visit several of the world’s top museums, like the Prado or the Guggenheim Bilbao. You can wander through the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona, gaze at the buildings designed by Antoni Gaudi, and ramble down the Ramblas. In the south, you will find the Moorish architecture that makes Andalucia so distinctive, or how about some outdoor activities for you more active travelers? If you have some time on your hands, you can hike the entire pilgrimage road to Santiago de Compostela – all 800+ miles! Or visit some lovely natural areas to view the wildlife. Everywhere you can indulge in the fabulous cuisine and the wines from their latest up and coming wineries. The shopping and fashion is on a par with Italy. You are bound to find that special something. Whatever your taste in travel, Spain can certain fulfill it. This is one fun country to visit and I love sending people there.
